What can I do about dents in my wood floor?
Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 9:31AM High heels, pet nails, dropped heavy objects, furniture legs, etc. will dent wood flooring. The best solution is prevention: remove high heels, trim pet nails, and use felt protectors on furniture legs. A satin finish instead of a glossy finish will reduce the appearance of dents and scratches. (unfortunately satin is also less durable) Otherwise you will have to refinish the floors to get out the dents.
There is no other effective repair.

Dents can be removed by using a combination of heat and moisture to raise the wood back to its original form. After the wood has been raised, be sure to sand it in order to smooth it into place with the surrounding boards.

I would say just be careful. Do not wear anything that can scratch the floor such as heals etc as mentioned above. Use felt pads or similar items on the bottom of furniture legs. Sweep the floor frequently to make sure there is nothing on the floor that could cause a scratch when stepped on.
Overall just be conscious that your floor may scratch or dent and be careful.
Personally I think a few scratches and dents give my floor more personality so to speak and make my floors kind of match my distressed furniture look.
